About Us
The Lara Big Band Inc. formed in March 2023 and incorporated in August 2024 to provide local musicians an opportunity to come together and share their talent and passion for music. Primarily targeting those who played an instrument in school but hadn't had an opportunity to continue playing as a hobby, the Lara Big Band welcomes musicians who are seeking to challenge themselves in a truly supportive and friendly environment.
The band plays a diverse repertoire of big band and swing, heavily inspired by the masterpieces of Count Basie and Sammy Nestico. The band aims to be accessible to all, not just jazz afficionados, so includes engaging big band arrangements of everyone's favourites, including from Elton John, Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, and your favourite Disney and Pixar movies.
We aim to inject fun and frivolity into every performance and excel in providing a high standard of entertainment and elegance to community and private events.
The band is managed by a volunteer committee and is always looking for new members!
